Subordination of will to reason
The philosopher Kant in ‘Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals’ states that our status as good people is measured by the degree to which we succeed in subordinating our will to reason. For the completely irrational will there is no such problem since it has no awareness of obligations.
The challenge that appears daily is the news from the south and what the head of that nation is now stating. One constantly questions the goodness of that individual. Kant presents an answer. Does what he state in any fashion reasonable? It is completely irrational. It does not support any reason. There is no sense of any obligation except to himself.
How then can such an existence, the completely selfish existence, be reasonable. It holds no awareness of any obligation except to itself. There is no goodness, it is irrational, it only drives hatred.
How do you prepare to listen to these volumes of hatred and irrationality. I don’t know if you can, but you can decide to limit that amount of time you will spend listening to it.
