Not for lack of words

I imagine we all have our favourite books and certainly our favourite authors. Then along comes the monthly or biweekly book reviews, and the list of books to look at, to read, suddenly expands. You wonder if the book reviewed is actually that good, or is it just because the reviewer is that good at describing the book?

You do the research, and finally, by some means, the book is in your hands. It is almost like a birthday or Christmas present, packaged with the cover, all those wonderful attributes of a book are in front of you. After going through your new book ritual, you finally get to the first page.

You will commit a certain number of pages, given the effort you've taken to acquire the book. Then, at some point, you see more than just words. There is meaning, experience, creativity, and all the other attributes that give the book its aura. Or it can be a simple dud. It doesn't take long for your discernment to make the judgment. I am finding more books are written like a Twitter feed than anything else.
