A quatrain

Today, of course while reading, there was reference to some poetry by an individual I had never heard of. Who was this person? Finding out more was astounding. How little we know of people in other cultures when we seemingly are fed that which is only our own. The need for diversity is more apparent than ever.

Here is the quatrain.

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,

Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit.

Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,

Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.

Excerpt from: "Edward FitzGerald's Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam" by Omar Khayyam.
